“I am never getting a massage,” a lady told us last week, “I am quite chubby.” Therapists often hear “I am so sorry, I did not have time to shave my legs.” Do you want to find out what could a massage therapist possibly be thinking about your body?
The trust you show us by allowing us to touch you when you are not feeling very well in particular is an honor for us. Those moments when you did not have the time to take care of yourself the way you wanted to, when you were feeling tired, in pain or exhausted and your mind went to us.
Every body is different. We have experience with kyphosis, scoliosis and other musculoskeletal; with eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia, and obesity), semi or total paralysis. We have experience with people who had no fingers, they had scars, stretch marks, very hairy or not at all, with legs that suffer from hours of standing up and have varicose veins. We have supported and taken care of every part and muscle.
What really concerns massage therapists is the thing that might be causing the pain you are feeling and how they can relieve you of said pain. We do not judge the bodies we are massaging. We all have flaws, after all, even your massage therapist!
Frankly, most of us completely forget if you have moles or pimples on your back once you put your clothes back on; we see you for what you are not for the way your body is.
We see the totality of you, as human beings that deserve to feel better. We work on your body so that it can work in the best way possible.
This is what we are thinking about when we are providing you with a massage!
