+30 211 800 20 88A lot of people choose getting a massage in order to relax the body and mind. It is widely known that long term massage therapy sessions can have impressive results towards the betterment of the client’s health and well-being. Boosting the immune system, better blood circulation, anxiety relief, better sleep even, are some of them.
To truly enjoy a massage session it is important to know some things:
Ask for the kind of massage you want to have.
Even though massage therapists are trained and experienced enough, they are still unable to read your mind. It is always preferable to inform while booking your appointment for the kind of massage or the body pressure you would prefer for your body. This would go a long way into finding the most suitable massage therapist for you.
A hot shower is always a good idea
To thoroughly enjoy your massage it is important to take care of yourself before the session begins. The simplest yet most relaxing way to prepare? A hot shower. The beneficial effects of a hot shower for the restlessness of the brain as well as for hard moving muscles are too many to count. Additionally, feeling clean makes us feel less self-conscious about our bodies.
Start a little earlier
It is better to arrive a bit earlier at the therapy studio so that you take some time to relax. Traffic and/or the anxiety to make it at the last minute can keep you hyper-alert for a long time after your massage therapy session has begun.
If the session is to take place at your house, make sure to have taken care of important business by the time the therapist arrives so that your mind and therefore your body can be at peace.
Use the bathroom
Use the bathroom before your session begins in order to enjoy it completely; it is a good idea to use the bathroom after a session too so that you can depart with leftover liquids. Additionally, it is recommended that you drink some water both before and after a session.
Always eat lightly before your appointment
We all know we should not work out or swim right after lunch or dinner…the same goes for massage as well. It is best to leave a space of two hours between a main meal and your massage session. That being said, you should not have a completely empty stomach either. A light snack is the best thing you can consume before your massage.
Put your phone away
Mobile phones have become an indispensable part of our everyday lives. Family, responsibilities and our jobs are all being organized through them. However, during your massage session, it is important that you put it away. In silent mode or completely turned off are your best options since even a light vibration can break the relaxed and laid back mood you are supposed to be in. These one or two hours are completely dedicated to you. This is the time to suspend all the day or week-long tension you have been feeling; do not waste it talking or surfing on your phone.
If you have trouble relaxing your mind, focus on your body
There are a lot of people who are constantly hyperactive and although they live through a great experience that cannot enjoy it to the maximum because their mind doesn’t seem to be able to wander around issues that are concerning them. But there is a solution to this. Try focusing on what you are feeling: the movement of your therapist’s hands, the music playing, the scent of essential oils…focus and time by time you will be able to let go and fall into total relaxation a bit more.
Say what you want to say
Inform your therapist of your personal needs: the spot you want him to focus on or avoid for example. You can let them know during a session if you need more or less pressure. This will help you enjoy your massage experience to its core.
Warning: massage is a therapeutic art form. Massage therapists do not offer “happy endings” nor do they offer any other services besides massaging. Avoid creating an awkward atmosphere with your therapist by asking about the services provided by each company before making an appointment.
